Sarah's La Roche Posay Staples

I don't know about you, but I have extremely sensitive skin. It reacts to just about everything which makes finding skincare products that don't irritate my skin really hard! When we were down in Florida a few years ago, I used some sunscreen that we had at our house and I broke out in a full body rash. Let me tell you, I did not look as cute as I wanted to in a swim suit being red and splotchy. After that, I realized I am allergic to oxybenzone, a common allergen in sunscreen. Not only have I had problems with sunscreen, but I have also struggled with severe acne which I will talk about in another post.

Upon searching for new sunscreen and skin care options, my dermatologist introduced me to La Roche Posay, and I have been using their products ever since. They are dermatologist tested and most of their products are suitable for sensitive skin. They have a few sunscreens that don't have oxybenzone and I have been using them ever since that trip to Florida. Also, my skin feels and looks so much healthier and more hydrated. There are definitely other factors that have contributed to this, like eating well, drinking enough water and prescribed acne cream. But with that said, I can still see a huge difference in my skin when I use these products.

I do want to note that not all skin types are the same, so products that work amazingly for me may not work as well for you. But I hope that this can provide a bit of a guide to some great products and an excellent brand.

Lipikar Baume AP+ - this is one of the best body moisturizers I have found. It leaves my skin so soft, absorbs quickly and doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy.

Hyalu B5 Serum - this is an anti-aging and hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5. I put this on before I moisturize and it definitely makes my skin look more "glowy" and hydrated. It does have a bit of fragrance but it hasn't irritated my skin.

Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser - This cleanser was recommended by my dermatologist to use alongside my acne cream and I now swear by it. It is specifically formulated for sensitive and allergy prone skin (yay!). It is more of a cleansing milk that you can either wipe or wash off your face (I wash it off just as my preference). It does say that it can be used as a makeup remover, but I find it leaves makeup behind so I just use it as a cleanser. Overall, it leaves my skin feeling SO hydrated and soft afterward and it isn't hard on my skin at all.

Anthelios XL Dry Touch Gel-Cream/Anthelios XL Face and Body - I have been using this sunscreen for a few years now and I love it. It absorbs into your skin quickly and it doesn't leave a white cast on your skin. It does leave a bit of a greasy residue on your skin right after application compared to spray on sunscreen, but it does go away after wearing it for a bit.

Toleriane Sensitive Creme UV - This has become a staple in my summer skin care routine because it has built in SPF 30. This moisturizer is also very lightweight, blends easily, doesn't leave a white cast, and makes my skin feel so hydrated! Of all the products, this is by far my favourite one.

What are some of your skincare staples?

Love,

~ Sarah
